Amanda Bossard graduated from high school in 1992 and began studying marine sciences at Alaska Pacific University in Anchorage. Bossard started her commercial seafood career in 1999, after she was hired on board the vessel F/V Sunset. The 65' schooner converted to an ice-fish tender was operated by Murat Aritan. He has been a commercial fishing since 1993. Bossard has married Aritan. They have now joined forces and are claiming the respective businesses. They believe in conservative, sustainable managing of the renewable resources for seafood. Otolith was founded in Philadelphia by Bella Bossard, now mother to two kids with ages of 3 and 1 Bossard. Her husband has a long career in the fishing industry and often they are separated from each other for a period of five or more months. That's when they're focused on their environment and financial goals. In July 2016, Bossard as well as her daughters Isabella age 12 and Andre age 10 Andre age 10 return to Southeast Alaska annually each summer as deckhands during the harvest of wild salmon in the summer. Following two years of fishing hooks as well as lines, and a 42-foot salmon troller they joined Aritan and were sold to local seafood processors.
